South African rapper, AKA tests positive for COVID-19

Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, South African rapper, popularly known as AKA has tested positive for COVID-19. The singer made the announcement on his Twitter page. According to the 33-year-old, he decided to make his results public to raise awareness about the pandemic. “In an attempt to create awareness around the virus and to caution citizens to be more careful in their daily interactions with others, AKA has chosen to make his results public. ”AKA pleads for everyone to adhere to social distancing guidelines, to wear mask and to hold stringent hygiene measures by frequently washing hands and sanitizing,” he added. Police arrest five in connection to rapper Pop Smoke’s death

The Los Angeles police have said that five persons have been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of rapper, Pop Smoke during a home invasion in February. The Los Angeles Police Department in a tweet via its official Twitter account on Thursday said that three adult males and two juvenile males have been taken into custody. The Police also said that multiple people were in the home when the shooting took place. Recall that the popular 20-year-old New York rapper was killed at his home in Hollywood, Los Angeles. It was also learned that the rapper was attacked after two men wearing hoodies and masks entered the house and fired multiple shots. US rapper, Kanye West has vowed to win the 2020 presidential race. Speaking in an interview with Forbes and published on Wednesday, the music star announced that he no longer supported President Donald Trump. Recall that West over the weekend announced that he would run for president in 2020. He emphasized that he entered the presidential race to win it. Oscar-winning actor, Tom Hanks, has said he does not respect anyone who fails to practice safety precautions to contain the spread of coronavirus Recall that Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, tested positive for the virus in March. Court to hear suit against conviction of Funke Akindele, husband, others

A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed July 10 to hear a suit challenging the conviction of popular actress, Funke Akindele, her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello (JJC Skillz), and 236 others. A lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, is seeking a declaration that the law upon which Akindele and others were convicted was inconsistent with the 1999 constitution. Akindele and others were arrested, tried and convicted for violating the Lagos State Infectious Diseases (Emergency Prevention) Regulations 2020. 81 persons killed in protest over popular singer’s death

About 81 people have been killed in Ethiopia after a popular singer’s death sparked violent protests in the country’s Oromia region. The Oromia Police Chief in a televised press briefing said those killed included protesters and police officers, NaN reports. Popular singer, Hachalu Hundessa, who focused on the rights of the country’s Oromo ethnic group and was a popular voice in protests which led to the downfall of the previous prime minister in 2018, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Monday Following his death, huge protests sprung up in Addis Ababa, the capital city and Oromia region.
